Blo Dry Bar Experience

My 3rd Blo Dry Bar Experience

Merida from Disney's BraveI have a love/hate relationship with my bleached hair. Love it because I can experiment with it, hate it because of the damage. But I chose this path, so now I have to live with it.

My hair is naturally curly, and most often than not, I usually wake up like Princess Merida from Disney’s Brave. And because my hair’s been bleached too many times, it usually takes 4-5 hours to completely dry on its own. :| Styling my hair, alone, becomes a tedious task. The quick solution? Get a blowout.

This is where Blo Dry Bar comes in. They’re a no-fuss blow dry salon. This means that, unlike regular salons, they do not offer haircuts, mani-pedi services, or even hard-selling. They just simply wash and style your hair, all for P500.

“What?! PHP500? That’s too much don’t you think, Kisty?” you say. I agree, that is expensive… I know salons who offer wash+blowdry services for PHP350, but they usually hard-sell OR doesn’t handle my delicate hair with care. :| I spent PHP350 only to get annoyed? No, thank you.

Plus, I only reserve blowout visits if I want to look extra pretty, or when I think I deserve a beauty treat, or I have a special occasion to attend to.

They have 7 styles to chose from, but if that doesn’t tickle your fancy, you can also provide a photo of your preferred hairstyle. For that particular visit, I told them I want to have pin-up curls. So we went for a modified Pillow Talk style, their bedhead version of the popular beach wavy hair. Other styles I’ve tried during my first and second visits were Red Carpet and Holly Would respectively.

After 30-45 minutes of styling, this was the result! I’M ONE HAPPY CUSTOMER! It was so soft, shiny and retro! :) And because this hair style cost me PHP500, I did not wash my hair for the next two days, para masulit lang, and I’m happy to report that the curls were still in place even on the 2nd day!

So if you need someone to style your hair for Christmas, New Year or even birthdays and anniversaries, you know where to go. :) Just make sure you call in to make an appointment.

I choose this path too, so I have to live with it! LOL. I have to condition and repair my hair everyday too. It’s a tedious task but I love it. I’m glad that I work at home because it allows me to have more time for myself. It is a bit expensive but if I have special events to attend to, this kind of service is better especially for us who have damaged hairs.

It is tedious! I have to retouch my hair today and I’m like, UGH :( Haha but I’ve got events to go to this weekend. And yes, this service is better for us… minus the hassle!

Love-love-love the final ‘look!’ I hope I had your naturally curly hair. Mine is too straight and thin, that I always need to put volume on it :| But I guess, to each his own! ;)

On a side note… aaah I miss PH salon services. Just got my bangs cut here and it was a disaster and it cost 1K. WTF. :))) I have to hunt for a good one. (And suffer more bad haircuts I guess?) Or else, I might just have to trim it myself.

Thanks, Aileen! I get how you feel! When I was still living in SG, I had the same WTF moment with salons. Dyeing this length cost 10K!!!! They even charge extra before Chinese New Year! Hope you’ll be able to find a salon that’s affordable there! :)

Few months before, I got a blo dry discounted GC from the BDJ box but never really got interested because I didn’t know about it and didn’t care to Google for it. Haha but then I recently read blogposts about this and got my attention, then suddenly I was like, Sayang yung GC huhu

I wanted to try blo dry but I don’t think I have any special occasion to have one. Well, it’s good to have a beautiful hair even just once, but since that’s pricey, hmm, nope, I’ll reserve it for a speciall occasion nalang hehe and I guess like you, baka hindi ko basain hair ko for a few days! Haha

Do you have photos of you 1st and 2nd? I’d love to see the styles on actual hair/person hehe this one is so retro I agree! And bagay sa hair color mo :)

To be honest, even after discount, their service is still expensive. I remember getting a 20% off card thing, and I still paid like PHP400 something. Still expensive, but yeah, suitable for special occasions!

I do, but it’s on my phone! I’ll tweet the photos to you soon. :)

You look wonderful with that curls! :) I really am curious about blo dry bar, but I think I might save the experience when the right time has come (a.k.a. important party or what-not). I love your hair, but as much as I wanted to bleach mine, I’m extremely afraid that I might end up regretting it.

Anyhow, really great post, especially for those who really have no idea of what to expect on these kinds of salon.
