There are two Disney theme parks in Japan: Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. The former follow the concept of a traditional Disneyland resort that you can see in Hong Kong, Paris and Florida; while the latter can only be found in Japan. In terms of the attractions, I think Disneyland is more family-oriented and feels more magical than DisneySea. The rides in Disneyland are also more focused on children than teens or young adults. DisneySea, on the other hand, seems to offer more thrilling rides and a very popular date place for couples and friends. Since we can only include one park in our itinerary, we opted to visit Tokyo DisneySea simply because it’s a one-of-a-kind attraction.
Unfortunately, I can’t tell you how fun the rides were, or entertaining the shows are, because there were a lot of people. We went there on a Monday, hoping the park to be less crowded than usual, but we’ve never been so wrong. I don’t think it was a holiday yet there were a lot of Japanese couples there. All of the attractions, restaurants, entertainment shows, and meet-and-greet spots throughout the park had really long queues. In fact, it will take 45 minutes for one person to even get a picture with Ariel. </3 Due to the volume of visitors, we were only able to spend the whole day walking around, trying to find a ride we can actually ride (just one), and take loads of pictures.
If you’re planning to try all the rides and see all the shows at Tokyo DisneySea, I highly encourage you to avail the FASTPASS as soon as you arrive. This FASTPASS will shorten your wait time to several attractions across the park. The FASTPASS acts like a reservation slot because you can only ride a certain attraction on the specified time on the ticket. The release of these tickets, however, may end at an earlier time.
