I have a confession to make: I hate wearing jeans. If you take a look at my OOTDs in the past, you’ll see that I rarely wear jeans. In fact, when I travel, I’ll pack one pair of jeans but will never ever wear it unless necessary. The reason behind this is that I’m petite. When I try on jeans, I often get disappointed because the ones in the market are either too big, too long or too tight for my body. Finding the perfect pair of jeans is nothing but a difficult and frustrating quest.
But I need jeans, not only for everyday use but also for my travels. Here are my top reasons why:
1. Jeans provide protection
Denim jeans can provide ample protection from the sun’s harsh rays and unexpected drizzles. The thicker fabric also serves as a cushion for my baby bun when I sit on the floor and other unlikely surfaces. Additionally, it becomes a cover-up requirement for selected institutions, establishments, and activities. Some temples, for example, don’t allow leggings or tights.
2. Jeans are versatile and saves space
Jeans can be worn in a variety of situations and can be used repeatedly. One pair of jeans, at least in my opinion, is good for 2-3 use before it starts feeling soiled. Stains, especially on darker jeans, are also not immediately visible. Given these advantages, can you image how much luggage space you can save and allott for souvenirs? I definitely can!
2. Jeans are considered a classic
Jeans were originally designed for cowboys and miners, but later became popular among teenagers in the 1950s. Soon, it became a classic and fashion staple worldwide. Jeans has conquered the world and I’m pretty sure it’s here to stay.

The funny thing is, the fashion gods may have heard my prayers because last Wednesday, Uniqlo Philippines invited me and a group of bloggers to try their denim jeans and it was through this event that I found “the one”.
Introducing Uniqlo’s Selvedge Denim Jeans. Selvedge, the high-quality denim made using traditional weaving methods and top-notch craftsmanship. We all know how jeans can be restricting, but with the uniquely uneven weave of Selvedge, Uniqlo developed a brand new stretchy fabric — giving you more freedom to move around! They came in different styles, like the Regular Fit, Slim Fit, Ultra Stretch, Skinny Fit, and Boyfriend Jeans.
Out of the collection, I chose their distressed boyfriend pants. I’ve tried other boyfriend jeans in the past, but this one was wasn’t too long and baggy for my frame. Plus, it was in Size 24! I instantly knew it was the one I had to get.
Uniqlo also treated us to a movie, lunch, and bowling game to test run the comfort of the pants. I noticed while watching a movie is the freedom — I was free to stretch, fold or cross my legs while watching Kingsman: The Secret Service (I must add: You need to see this R-16 movie). Not to mention, my new pair of boyfriend pants may have been my lucky charm because I was able to strike several times and, for the record, that never happened in my previous bowling games!
But the testing didn’t stop there! The very next day, my family went on a day trip to Quezon to see my grandparents, and I decided to wear the pants again. And I’m glad I did because going up to the Kamay ni Hesus, under the scorching sun, was darn hard. Kamay ni Hesus is a 5-hectare pilgrimage site and one of the activities done here climb the 290++ steps going to the top of the hill (more like a mountain) where a 50-foot statue of Christ was built. While it was a tiring climb, my jeans didn’t give me a hard time. There was no sign of any discomfort as I take the uneven stairs. At this point, I confirmed to myself that Uniqlo’s jeans passed the comfort test.
So if you’re having a hard time finding the right pair of jeans for everyday use or for your travels, I highly recommend you visit Uniqlo today and give their jeans a try. For more information, promos and discounts, please check Uniqlo Philippines’s Official Facebook Page.

I was not compensated for this post, however, I did receive samples for my review. All opinions are my own and not influenced in any way. I’m truly in love with my new pair of boyfriend jeans.
